International Data Week 2025 (IDW 2025):Data for positive change: Empowering communities and advancing research
The International Science Council’s Committee on Data (CODATA) and World Data System (WDS), and the Research Data Alliance (RDA) are delighted to announce the International Data Week 2025, taking place on 13–16 October 2025, in Brisbane, Australia.
IDW 2025 will combine the RDA 25th Plenary Meeting (RDA P25) and SciDataCon, the scientific conference addressing the frontiers of data in research organized by CODATA and WDS.
Join a global community of researchers, data professionals, policy makers and more to celebrate and advance the role of data in science and society. The theme for this conference will be ‘Data for positive change: Empowering communities and advancing research’.
IDW 2025 is being delivered by the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC), Australia’s leading research data infrastructure organisation, along with local partners the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Brisbane Economic Development Agency, Business Events Australia and our State Host Destination Partner, Tourism and Events Queensland.
Venue
IDW2025 will be hosted in Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC), one of Australia’s world best convention centres.
The venue is situated in the heart of Brisbane and was opened in 1995. BCEC is owned by South Bank Corporation on behalf of the Queensland Government and is proudly managed by leading international venue management specialists ASM Global.
Koala competition
Before travelling to the conference, RDA wants to see the IDW 2025 koala in your home country! Take a picture of yourself with a koala in front of a famous landmark or even just your favourite spot in your hometown or home country.
You will go into the draw to win one of two complimentary full registrations to IDW 2025. One of the winners will be chosen by the IDW 2025 Organising Committee and the other will be a People’s Choice Award, both will be awarded in early 2025. The shortlisted entries will be featured in a future ezine where delegates will be able to vote for our People’s Choice Winner.
