The CESSDA Main Office welcomes our Senior Science Officer, Lorraine!
Lorraine Wong has extensive research experience in various areas of the social sciences including work, human trafficking, migration, social protection, and health. Before joining CESSDA, she worked with United Nations agencies to analyse survey and administrative data.
At the International Organization for Migration, she led a partnership with Microsoft Research to generate synthetic data and dashboards to inform human trafficking vulnerability factors and incidences. At the International Labour Organization, she used Python/REST API to retrieve Crossref metadata for a subject-specific Bibliography.
She has communicated technical insights to policy actors through consultations in Armenia, Chile, Malawi, Nepal, Paraguay, and Uganda. Lorraine has developed online courses for universities and national statistical offices on data anonymisation, data lifecycle management, and research ethics. She holds a PhD in Economics (Ireland), an MSc in Public Policy and Human Development (Netherlands), and a BSc in Nutritional Sciences (Canada).
