FSD included in Finland’s national roadmap for research infrastructures
At the end of 2024, CESSDA’s Finnish Service provider, The Finnish Social Science Data Archive (FSD) was included in Finland’s national roadmap for research infrastructures for 2025-2028.
The Finnish Research Infrastructure Committee (FIRI Committee) within the Research Council of Finland granted roadmap status to a total of 21 national research infrastructures. By granting roadmap status, the FIRI Committee recognizes these infrastructures as critical for the country’s research ecosystem. The Roadmap guides investment and supports research, development, and innovation. Its aim is to keep infrastructures internationally competitive, responsive to scientific challenges, and capable of generating new knowledge and expertise while interacting with RDI actors.
Of the 21 national research infrastructures granted Roadmap status, three are Social Sciences and Humanities Research Infrastructures – FSD being one of them.
In the last week of January, FSD received a funding decision that covers the years 2025–2027.
- Our project is called Accelerate, Integrate, Mobilise, Sustain – FSD AIMS 2030. It is quite a comprehensive project where we aim to enhance our services in several ways. The pervasive theme of the project is the construction and utilization of networks. The project has ambitious goals of learning, employing, and integrating artificial intelligence in our systems and processes, where it is effective and relevant – not just for the sake of it. We also further enhance our support to qualitative textual data management and quantitative international survey programmes. This requires activating cooperation with the SSH community, says Helena Laaksonen, Director of FSD.
